Snowpenhagen

Feb 1, 2010

Copenhagen has been reduced to a slow crawl the last week or so, after 2 seperate snow storms covered the city in the beautiful white stuff over the past week or so. It doesn't look like letting up, with more snow predicted for tomorrow, and the city announcing that it's salt reserves are getting dangerously low.

Growing up in the southern hemisphere, the only snow I ever saw was on the occasional skiing holiday my mum would take my brother and I on, so whenever it snows here in the city I'm always fascinated by it. However, these last couple of days have been something else entirely; The traffic in the city appears to be in slow motion, and the sounds of the streets are muffled by the dense piles and thin but enduring covering found on all but the most major roads.

It really is a magical experience, and something that has yet to fail to impress me. I've taken several opportunities to try to capture the feeling as I can, only stopped by the numbing of my hand when it becomes too cold to keep the glove off to take pictures.
