The other day I read this brilliant blog post by a guy named Simon Collison whom I follow on Twitter. It was about his recent trip to the USA, but instead of waxing lyrical about his experience he condensed the trip into a series of keywords and phrases, so that the entire story would only be able to be pieced together by someone that was there. Namely him.

Today’s obsession was a Youtube video of Fleetwood Mac’s Everywhere, which I played upwards of 5 times in a row.

Preface: To my mum, dad, family, friends and pretty much anyone else: Perhaps it’s best to just skip this one.
I’ve got plenty of issues, we all do. But the one I keep coming back to, the problem I face and will continue to face for the foreseeable future is finding out what it is I’m interested in, what I want to do about it, who I am. Hopefully, if I can figure that out, the rest of it — life — will just fall into place.

In any given task, I've found the hardest step to be the proof. Proof can come in different forms. In my daily work as a programmer, proof comes in the form of code. In most situations in which I'm given a problem to solve, my intuition often provides me with a solution almost immediately. While there are always additional sub-problems that crop up along the way, these tend to be less of a challenge mentally than the actual process of converting the solution into lines of code on a screen.
In many ways I feel I denied myself — intentionally or otherwise — of a rebellious youth. I've always been the cautious, overthinking type, and in many situations I am prevented from truly enjoying the moment by my overactive conscience constantly conjuring reasons I shouldn't be. It's something I'm learning to live with, and by becoming conscious of the conscience itself, I'm beginning to be able to wield ever more power over it.

As I've gotten older I've found myself less interested in what is considered new and fresh in the music industry and have started to instead work my way backward, discovering artists that I've only been influenced by sub-conciously or second-handedly. Today I'll be writing about Prince in this, the first of a series of posts about this process of discovery.

This is a website where I put things. Sometimes it's photos. Sometimes it's words. Some day it may be other stuff. Updates are infrequent. This site is first and foremost for myself, but if you manage to derive some sort of entertainment out of it, that's great too.
